The Fulani dominated Northern Nigeria is at it again. They have as they did in 2017 when they wanted to do away with the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, issued another ultimatum that is nothing, but a security threat with President Buhari silent again at their threat.
It will be recalled that in 2017 when Kanu was winning more followers for the Biafran liberation, the Arewa Youth came out with full support of their elders who hid from behind to issue a quit notice to all Igbos in Northern Nigeria to vacate if nothing is done to Nnamdi Kanu.
Few weeks later, Kanu’s home was invaded and their desire satisfied. Although they withdrew the threat only when they were given an assurance that certain persons have accepted the proposed invasion of Afaraukwu-Ibeku, Kanu’s country home.
Today, they have come again! What do they want? RUGA! On another man’s land and they want it by force or the usual. And who will stop them? Same people that permitted them 2 years ago? Oh no! Not at all. Tell me a new name please!
Who is behind them? Do you think they’re just a group standing alone without protection? Then think again. After all the opposition against RUGA do you think the proponents of that silly move will not restrategize and probably come out with an offer that your political leaders can’t resist of will practically misunderstood?
Ohanaeze has told Ndigbo to be ready to defend themselves after the Northern groups ‘gave’ Buhari 30-day ultimatum to implement RUGA. Really? Defend themselves with what? And these Northern groups are now the National Assembly that passes bill into law should presidential assent prove difficult.
Ohanaeze insists that the RUGA policy is an Islamization and a Fulanisation policy. It is a violation of our constitution and Supreme Court decisions on the Land Use Act.
Nnia Nwodo called on his people to get ready to defend themselves against the threat by a northern group to forcibly evict them.
The group made its position known while reacting to the 30-day ultimatum the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNGs) gave to governors opposed to the RUGA settlement programme of the Federal Government to Fulani herdsmen.
Nwodo said, “My attention has been drawn to a broadcast by Abdul Azeez Suleman, speaking for a Coalition of Northern Groups in which he had the audacity to give the Federal Government an ultimatum of 30 days to rescind its decision on the suspension of its RUGA settlements policy.
“This irresponsible, unlawful and provocative outburst reminds me of the quit notice from northern youths two years ago.
“Ohanaeze insists that the RUGA policy is an Islamization and a Fulanisation policy. It is a violation of our constitution and Supreme Court decisions on the Land Use Act.
“Its suspension without cancellation leaves the Federal Government still in violation of our laws.
“The threat to evict law-abiding Nigerians from their places of abode in northern Nigeria is treasonable and obviously like the gun-toting herdsmen will go unnoticed by our federally-controlled law enforcement agencies.
“I call on all Igbo to be ready to defend themselves. Enough of these threats! Let Abdul, the federal government and others like them take notice that Ohanaeze has no objection to all Igbo in the North returning home so long as all northerners in the east leave the east.
“The nepotism exhibited by this federal government, its duplicity of standards in law enforcement, her undisguised Fulanisation policy is repugnant to rule of law and good governance.
“We will no longer tolerate any further threats from these northern war-mongers. After all, who should be aggrieved under the circumstance?
“The South that is bearing the yoke of oppression from cattle herders are trying their best to coexist with their aggressors, yet it is the aggressors that are threatening further mayhem. This cannot be.”
Well, my word to Nwodo is to forget about the word “South” and defend his people if he can. This was the same mistake Nnamdi Azikiwe made by always talking about a Nigeria that doesn’t exist.
There’s nothing like the South. Every tribe must say no first, before you tag them friends. As you’re saying no, some are saying yes in the same South because of 2023.
Again, those of you who gave them permission to invade Afaraukwu in 2017 to try and kill Nnamdi Kanu are still alive. How are we sure that you will not do it again?
