Ex Super Eagles star and former Lokeren of Belgium midfielder, Etim Esin has vowed to sue Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, over alleged character defamation.

The former Calabar Rovers player is threatning to drag the governor to court over his statement to Villareal and Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze when he paid him a visit at the Abia government house on the 22nd of July shortly after the Super Eagles won bronze medal at the Total African Nations Cup 2019 in Egypt.

Ikpeazu was reported to have to the Abia born Chukwueze not to toe the way of Etim Esin and Tarila Okoronwata whom he regarded as players who failed as a result of pride.

Punch Newspaper of 23rd July had a headline captioned: “Don’t emulate Esin, Okorowanta, Ikpeazu tells Chukwueze” where it reported that Ikpeazu warned the Villareal CF star not to follow the ways of Esin and Okorowanta in his football career.

According to Punch Newspaper 23rd July, 2019, Ikpeazu said to Chukwueze, “The easiest way to destroy your career is to become proud of what you think you have achieved. Once pride sets in, you are finished. 

“I have seen players, good players who had the world at their feet but pride didn’t allow them excel.

“Players like Tarila Okorowanta and Etim Esin. Remain humble. Remember where you are coming from, your poor parents. Stay safe in Europe. Avoid drugs and drinking.”

Reacting several weeks after to the above comment,  Etim Esin on Tuesday 6th August as reported by New Telegraph Newspaper on Thursday 8th August, 2019 wrote on his Facebook page, and threatened to sue the governor to court for defamation of character.

According to Esin, “Abia state governor, I hate the way you used me and Okorowanta when a young chap came to you on a visit.  

“When Christian Chukwu was ill, where were you as Femi Otedola came to rescue, this is character defamation.” Esin wrote on Facebook.

“I challenge the governor on his contribution to the late Sam Okparaji family since his death in 1989. He was from Imo State. You will hear from my lawyer soon, ”he stressed.
